Obituary of Chrissey Ann Armstead
The family of Chrissey Ann Armstead announces with great sorrow the unexpected passing of their forever-loved one at her home in Cocoa, FL. She was called from labor to reward on Wednesday, March 7, 2018.
Chrissey was born on February 17, 1962 in Hamilton Avenue Hospital, Monticello, NY to Mervin Armstead and the late Lola Strong Armstead. She resided in Monticello for most of her life and in her earlier years in life she got baptized In Jesus Name and was filled with the Holy Ghost at Bethlehem Temple Church in Monticello.
Chrissey attended and graduated from Monticello High School. She was employed for many at Shoprite Supermarket, Monticello in the Deli and Seafood Dept., until her retirement. In 1996, she moved to Cocoa, Florida for a few years before moving back to Monticello. Her stay there was brief because she decided to move to Terre Haute, IN where she opened a church and became Founder and Pastor of Christ the King “Jesus Only” Apostolic Church in Indianapolis, IN. She was an Ordained Pastor under the Pasturage of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. In 2007, she made her way back to Cocoa, Florida, and remained until her passing.
Chrissey was very precise and persistent. She knew what she wanted and set out to get it, but yet very affectionate. She loved her family. You could see and feel her joy when she talked about them. Family meant everything to Chrissey. She gave all her nieces and nephews nicknames. She enjoyed helping her community and her church family. She would open her doors to everyone in need. While in Florida she had a food pantry and clothing drive. She loved music and she had a red convertible car, she would blast her music while driving and every song that she played was “Her Jam”. You knew she was coming before she actually arrived. Chrissey had a good heart and loved everyone. She didn’t live close to her family later in life, but we were always in her heart. She had no biological children, but her nieces and nephews were her children.
Chrissey is survived by her loving father Bishop Mervin Armstead (Lady Lillian Armstead); sisters: Flora Armstead of Monticello; Theresa Armstead of Middletown, NY; brothers: Mervin Armstead, Jr. of Richmond, VA; Byron (Janet) Armstead of Georgia; Marcus Armstead of Monticello, NY and Eric (Evang. Jacqueline) Armstead of Richmond, VA. nieces and nephews: Shanita, Charise, Sir, Kevin, Whitney, Brandon, Logan, Avery and Chanel; great nieces and nephews; a host of Aunts, Uncles, cousins, loved ones and friends to cherish her memories. Chrissey was preceded in death by her mother, Lola, along with her brothers Herman and Wayne Armstead.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 11am at Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello. The funeral will follow at 12pm, officiated by Bishop John C. Williams. A repast of friends and family will be held following the service at Bethlehem Temple Church's Fellowship Hall.
