Obituary of Dorothy L. Langseder

Dorothy L. Langseder, born October 29, 1928 in Hoboken, NJ, the only daughter of the late Edward P. Zelkosky & Celia Moshier Zelkosky, died peacefully in her home with her children by her side, on Monday, March 5, 2018. In 2003, Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Carl whom she married in 1951. Dorothy attended NYU and CCNY in NYC, and was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course in Effective Speaking & Leadership Training. She worked for Conde' Naste Publications in NYC and later became Associate Editor of Thomas J. Lipton Inc.'s company publication in Hoboken, NJ. A nationally recognized artist, Dorothy taught and demonstrated oil painting for 25 years. A resident of Yankee Lake NY since 1978, she served as President and then Executive Director of the Catskill Art Society - Sullivan County's oldest art organization - from 1980-1990 in the Sullivan County Museum, Hurleyville, NY. Her paintings have been reproduced on two book covers and in magazines such as The Conservationist, Hudson Valley Magazine, Catskill Life, and North Light. She is survived by her four loving children: Lisa Coney and her husband Edward of Rock Hill, NY; Neal Langseder and his wife Eileen of New Canaan, CT; Jay Langseder of Santa Ana, CA; and Dean Langseder and his wife Debi of Highland, NY; five grandchildren – Daria Coney, Jaclyn & James Langseder, and Tori & Alexa Langseder; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, March 9 from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11:00am at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro, with Rev. Kenneth Tenckinck officiating. Burial will be held privately at the Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Community Church of Wurtsboro, P.O. Box 487, Wurtsboro, NY 12790.
