Betty Caraballo entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2018 at the Monticello home of her daughter and son-in-law. Betty Caraballo was born April 22, 1926, in Denver Colorado, the daughter of Manuel Carabello and Marie Surec. Betty relocated to Kiamesha Lake, NY in the early 50's and started working at the Concord Hotel as a Waitress in the Main Dining Room, where she eventually retired. Betty often reminisced about her work and frequently stated she "missed the old gang." During her retirement she enjoyed reading, sewing and attending to her house plants. Betty was one of five children, including her twin brother, Jack Caraballo. Betty is survived by her daughter: Vivian VanKeuren & her husband Bradley of Monticello, NY. She was a Grandmother to Brian VanKeuren & his wife Tara of Amsterdam, NY and Keith VanKeuren & his wife Shannon and their daughter Nessiah of Monticello, NY. She was a Great Grandmother to Donia VanKeuren of Monticello, NY and Arek VanKeuren of Amsterdam, NY. A statement from her daughter reads: My mother was very loving. She was a very hard worker, very independent, and a great role model. Cremation will be private and there will be no services as per Betty's request. The family would like to thank Dr. Garfield of Sullivan Internal Medicine Group and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties for their continued support and care. The family would also like to thank Betty's friends and neighbors from Kiamesha Lake Apartments. Betty was a long-time contributor to Boys Town Nebraska. Memorial contributions in Betty's name may be made to Boys Town Nebraska, 14100 Crawford Street, Boys Town, NE 68010. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
