Obituary of Marie L. Boutsis

Marie L. Boutsis of Bloomingburg, a retired bookkeeper and longtime resident of the area, died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 85. The daughter of the late Giovanni Lombardi and Fortuna Fasanelli Lombardi, she was born April 30, 1932 in New York City. She was the widow of Spiros Boutsis who predeceased her on December 30, 1999. Marie was best known for her cooking, hosting family and friends at her home and making everyone feel welcome. She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid reader. Her four grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. Marie was a founding member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, and formerly served on its board of directors. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her two daughters: Frances Ippolito & her husband Matthew of Wurtsboro, and Christina Ruiz & her husband Joseph of Rock Hill; four grandchildren: Marisa, Paul, Nicholas, and Christian; a brother: Phil Lombardi and wife, Patricia, of Tannersville, PA; three sisters: Ida Barnao and husband, Anthony, of Scarsdale, NY, Clara Mauro and husband, Thomas, of Clearwater, FL, and Jeanette Saccoccio of Norwood, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Michael, Jack, and Anthony Lombardi and a brother-in-law, Elio Saccoccio. Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, January 28 from 2-5pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, January 29 at 11am at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Turnpike in Middletown, NY with Fr. Chris Talleos officiating. Burial will follow at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
