Obituary of Gloria Parran

Gloria Parran of Monticello, a retired teacher's aide at Christopher Columbus High School in the Bronx, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 77.
Gloria was a 50-year resident of the Bronx before relocating to Monticello to reside with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a loving and supportive mother and friend who was always willing to help others; and was always smiling and telling jokes to make others happy. She also worked as a librarian at P.S 21 Elementary School and a Registrar at Lehman College, also in the Bronx. She was also an assistant teacher for the "Learning to Read Through the Arts" Program in the Bronx, and a former longtime member of the "Greater Victory Baptist Church" in the Bronx.
She is survived by a daughter: Lisa Rivers-Mota & her husband Harry of Monticello; a son: Darryl Parran of Pittsburgh, PA; three grandchildren: Nina & Aaliyah Mota, and Jamel Tonge; and a Godchild: Lanelle Otey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26 from 10am to 12pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello with a funeral service starting at 12:00 noon with Pastor Harry Brown Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
