Tammi Helgesen, a lifelong resident of Monticello, died, Thursday December 14, 2017 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 59.
The daughter of the late Robert Akers and Linda Gerson Akers, she was born July 6, 1958 in Monticello.
She wasn't just known as Tammi. She was Mom, Aunt Tammi or Mimi. As stubborn as she was, she did anything for anyone, accepted everyone, and opened her ears and door for anyone that needed it. Her laugh and presence will be missed by many.
She is survived by her three sons: Eric, Dillon and Rob; two brothers: Randy Akers and Robert Akers;
Her grandson: Damien; nieces and nephews: Scott, Christina, Christopher, Danielle, and Caleb; great nieces and nephew: Emilee, Leana, and Lukas; and also including a long list of extended family and friends.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Monday, December 18 from 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Glen Wild Cemetery.
