Obituary of Pastor Delores Williams

Please share a memory of Pastor Delores to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Pastor Delores Williams was called from labor to rest on Thursday December 7, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown NY. She was born September 5, 1931 to the late Joseph and Estella Walker in Bromley, Alabama. Pastor Williams was raised in a God- fearing, loving home with her nine siblings.

After moving to Monticello, Pastor Delores Williams married Deacon Jerry Williams, the love of her life in 1956. To this blessed union two children were born - Stanley Jay Williams (Patricia), Rochester, NY, and Michelle Jerry Williams McNeal, Loch Sheldrake, NY.  Deacon Jerry Williams was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army and this was the beginning of her worldly travels. They were fortunate enough to be stationed in various locations within the United States and abroad. The family spent many years in Germany where Delores gave birth to her daughter Michelle. Delores  was an amazing sister to Ruth Bickham, Liserie Walker, Claudine Maxwell, Alinda Tomlinson and Judy Pugh all of Monticello, NY, two  deceased brothers, Jeffrey and Joseph Walker, Jr. and two deceased sisters, Aletha and Vera Walker. After fifty two Golden years of marriage, her husband, Deacon Jerry Williams passed away in 2008.  Pastor Delores Williams was a proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was affectionately called  ”Aunt Lois”  by special niece Debbie Allen, and a host of other  nieces and nephews.

Despite the death of her beloved husband and the many trials of life, Pastor Delores Williams didn’t stop working for the Lord. Her zeal for God, her knowledge of His Word, and her love and compassion for God’s people brought her to the very well-deserved place at the right hand of God. Pastor Delores relished the privilege to serve as the Pastor of Bethlehem Temple Church and humbly received the torch that had been passed on to her in 2015.

Pastor Delores Williams was ordained as an Evangelist by the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. (PCAF). She has served God and man on the local, council (NYPANE) and national levels working in the capacities of Adult Sunday School Teacher, Chairlady of the Women’s Day Committee, Chairlady of the Missionary Department (local, council, and national), and held the position of National Chairlady of the Senior Citizens Auxiliary for the national body. She did “whatsoever her hands found to do.” Even in her sickness, her faith in God remained strong and steadfast!

Pastor Williams was a dedicated employee, who spent over forty-seven years as a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse, providing her patients with the upmost in care, love and kindness.  Her passion for nursing and caring for others continued long after her retirement as she continued her work as a private duty nurse until two years ago, where she established and maintained many lasting friendships long after her nursing duties were done.

She loved traveling, enjoying great meals, and spending time with family, her church family and friends. She served many in the community and her life served as an example of “Christ’s love for His children”. She never spoke ill of anyone, you could often hear the encouraging phrases such as: “well, Amen”, “bless your heart”, “that’s precious” and “take the meat from the bones”.

While we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life and all the gifts she has passed on to us. We know she would tell us all to “Bless God in the midst”.  We love you mom, sister, grandma, Aunt Lois, Pastor and friend. We will miss you always and see you every day in the laughter and jewels you deposited in your family, especially your grandchildren and great grandchildren.
