Obituary of Edward M. Maier

Edward M. Maier, a lifelong resident of Wurtsboro, passed away on December 4, 2017 at ORMC in Middletown after a short illness.
The son of George C. Maier and Frances Gutekunst Maier, he was born in Wurtsboro in June 1923. On August 15, 1948, he married Gladys "Goody" Robin. Their 69-year marriage was a fairytale life of love and devotion.
A dedicated member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro and his community, he was one of the founding members of VFW Post 4947 and was active in American Legion Post 1266. He was a WWII veteran who participated in the invasion of Normandy. In June, at the age of 94, Edward received his high school diploma from Monticello High School.
Predeceased by his brothers, George and John, he is survived by his wife, Goody, and many devoted nieces and nephews, and their families.
Services will take place at the Community Church of Wurtsboro, 134 Sullivan Street on Saturday December 9, 2017 at 11:00am, followed by graveside services with military honors at Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
