Evangelist Agatha Dawson, a resident of Monticello for over 60 years, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 26th, 2017 at Catskill Regional Medical Center with her loving family at her side. Agatha Dawson was born June 18th, 1951 in Bay Minette, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Robert E. Dawson and Mattie L. Gandy Dawson. She was 66. Agatha grew up in Monticello, attended Monticello Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1970. Agatha graduated from Orange County College in 1972. She was employed at Catskill Regional Hospital for over 30 years where she worked as a certified Electrocardiogram Technician and a certified Pulmonary Technician. In 1996, while still working full time, she returned to Sullivan County College and received a degree in Nursing. She retired from Sullivan County Jail in 2016 where she worked as a Registered Nurse Agatha was a dedicated and faithful member of Bethlehem Temple serving as the 3rd Asst. Pastor, bible teacher, member of the Executive Board, and Missionary Chairlady. She served as Former Youth Chairlady of the New York, Pennsylvania and New England States Council, 3rd Episcopal District and was licensed as an Evangelist by the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith, International. She was a past member of the United Way Board of Sullivan County and Chairlady of the Catskill Regional Breast Cancer Walk. Agatha was a strong independent woman, one of a kind. She had purpose and a vision of what she wanted in life and sought to make it a reality. She was a caring woman, but also very straightforward. She always spoke her mind and let you know her true feelings. She always had a word of encouragement to offer you and was a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. She loved to share her exotic foods and baked goods with EVERYONE. She left an impact on everyone she came into contact with. She was a very "special lady" who was loved by everyone. Agatha leaves to cherish her memories, her mother at home, Mattie L. Dawson; one brother, Edward Dawson, of Monticello, NY; one sister, Clara Fore of Syracuse, New York; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her father, Robert E. Dawson; her brother-in-law, Willie Fore; and her sister-in-law, Julia Dawson. Agatha, Rest in Peace until we meet again. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1 from 3-5pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello, and on Saturday, December 2 from 9-11am at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello.
