Claude Davidson Seward of Hurleyville died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 44. The son of Jalia Ann Davidson and Claude Stanley Seward, he was born June 5, 1969 in Middletown. A former member of both the Monticello and Rock Hill Fire Depts., Claude was a second degree black belt and martial arts instructor. He owned and operated his own martial arts school, teaching students of all ages the importance of discipline, respect, and self defense. He was a water plant operator and worked at an engineering firm for many years. He enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, researching his family lineage, and spending time with his beloved family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life and "wife": Wendy McCauliff Seward, at home; their son: William Edward Seward; his daughter: Claudia Raquel Davidson Seward; his father: Claude Seward of Amsterdam, NY; his mother: Jalia Davidson of Rock City Falls, NY; four sisters: Gaia Frising, Felicia Richardson, Hayley Monti, and Adria Roda & her husband Ron; a stepdaughter: Sarah Pedro & her husband D.J. and their son David Gerard; a stepson: Steven McCauliff; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Family & friends are invited to gather on Saturday, July 27 from 2-4pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His memorial service will be begin at 4:00 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Rock Hill Fire Dept., P.O. Box 116, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
