Obituary of Robert A. Dunn Sr.
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Allen Dunn Sr., "Mr. Electric", passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 19th at his home in Wurtsboro. He was 59.
The son of the late Joan Lounsbury Dunn Lindsay and James R. Dunn, he was born July 2nd, 1958 in Monticello. Robert was preceded in death by his wife: Debra Haring Dunn, and brother: James Dunn.
Robert, aka Bobby, would later be recognized locally as Mr. Electric from his successful running of 30 years in business. Wurtsboro was his lifelong home and he took pride in his knowledge of the area. He created and managed the Wurtsboro NY "Then and now" Facebook page, and just recently had the honor of being named the new town historian. He put much effort into preserving, protecting and appreciating the historical buildings and landmarks, as well as sharing information with other members of the community.
Outside of work and his passion for the local history, he was also a firm supporter of the second amendment and traditional values. On his down time, he would enjoy recreational shooting and target practice with friends. He was an active member in the Rod and Gun Club. Robert was a simple man with a heart of gold. His honesty, compassion, and selflessness was clear for all to see. Family and his faith were most important to him. He will be dearly missed and impossible to forget. Robert was an amazing father, man, and friend.
Survivors include his two sons: Robert A. Dunn Jr. & his wife Jolynn of Wurtsboro, and Matthew R. Dunn of Wurtsboro; a daughter: Krista Cartuccio & her husband Jake of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren: Kaylie & Giana Cartuccio, and Mason & Madison Dunn; brothers Gary and Richie; and sisters-in-law Wendy, Dawn, and Mada. Other family members include an aunt, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
