Obituary of Gregory John Cerrone
Gregory John Cerrone received his angel's wings on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the young age of 30. The son of Joseph G. Cerrone and Joan L. Reiszel Cerrone, he was born on July 29, 1987 in Johnson City, NY.
Gregory was known for his style. He took pride in his appearance and always wanted to dress and look his very best. He always had to have the latest hat and sneakers. It didn't matter what team was on the hat as long as he looked good. He loved his watches, fine jewelry and cologne. He had the greatest laugh that was so infectious. Gregory has such a cute crooked smile, it was so adorable you couldn't help but smile with him. Gregory had a deep affection for his cars especially his Mercedes - his pride and joy. He'd clean it so often we thought he'd rub the paint off. He also loved poker, casinos and any type of gambling. Gregory was such a beautiful soul who cared deeply and loved hard. Most of all he was our son whom we love beyond words. He was a great brother and the best uncle and godfather to Joey whom he adored more than anyone. But most of all Gregory was a very unique person who never had the chance to live up to his potential. After the loss of his sister whom he loved more than life itself, the grief was far to unbearable - it just consumed him and finally won.
Gregory was predeceased by his sister Sierra Lynn Cerrone; maternal grandparents John and Adrienne Reiszel; and his uncle Peter Reiszel.
Gregory was and always will be the beloved son of Joseph and Joan Cerrone. He was a wonderful brother and will be missed by his brother Joseph; nephew and his Godson Joseph G. Cerrone III (Joey) and Abby Kelly (Joey’s mother); grandfather Joseph B. Cerrone; aunts & uncles: Cindy and Scott Jordan, Janice and Joe Gentile, John and Sandy Reiszel, Ann Marie O'Toole, Karon and Dave Forney, and Paul and Delane Reiszel; his extended family includes David Margillo (some call him a friend; Gregory called him his brother. Gregory had other friends he loved like a brother but David was true to his word, never gave up on Gregory and loved him unconditionally). He also leaves behind many cousins, Corinne, Kristin, Caitlin, Joseph, Jacqueline, Matthew, Heather, Joshua, John, Steven, Michael (Mikie) & Michele and many more cousins, great aunts and uncles.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Monday, October 2 from 5-8pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 3 at 10am at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. He will be laid to rest beside his sister Sierra at St. Peter's Cemetery in Monticello.
