Obituary of Frank F. Johnson Sr.

Frank F. Johnson Sr., 77, was welcomed into his Heavenly home on Sunday, September 17, 2017. The son of the late Earnest and Susan Johnson, he was born in Middletown, NY on May 18, 1940. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Bette) who was the love of his life for over 30 years; and by his brother Benjamin. A lifelong resident of the area, Frank was a devoted member of the Mountain View United Methodist Church of Bloomingburg. He was the former Mayor of the Village of Bloomingburg; Chairman of the Town of Mamakating Republican Committee; Vice-President of the Mamakating Republican Club; Chairman of the Village of Bloomingburg Planning Board; the founder and Certified Scout Master of Troop 73; and a former member of the Bloomingburg Fire Department and the Sha-wan-ga Valley Fish and Game Club. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Frank Jr. (Kathy), Elizabeth (John), Thomas (Candy/Coreen), and Angela (James); and his brothers: George and Russell of Bloomingburg. He is also survived by his loving companion Ida; 26 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Frank also helped raise many stepchildren, including John, Judy, Joan, Jean, Carl, Daniel, David, Edward, Ursula and William. Family & friends are invited to gather on Monday, September 25 from 9-11am at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with a funeral service beginning at 11am at the funeral home with Rev.
