Walter W. Magie, building contractor and lifelong resident of Monticello died Monday, September 18, 2017 at home in Monticello. Born December 12, 1927 to Samuel Magie & Georgia Cantrell in Bridgeville, NY. He married Lenora Taggart on October 14, 1950. They were married 67 years. He was an avid sportsman, storyteller and family historian. He belonged to Southwoods MX Club and was an avid NASCAR & local track fan. He is survived by his wife, Lenora, at home; their children Walter Butch Magie & Laura, Sue Magie Stackhouse & Jerry, son-in-law Gary Price; sister Alice Irwin; grandchildren Christine Smith & Chris, Jill Cormey & John, Billie Jean McGinnis & Chris, Jamie Brasington & Shaun, Gary Magie, Walter Buddy Magie & Nickole, Blake Magie & Alexandria, Toni Burns & Ryan, Katie Stackhouse, Kaci Stackhouse; 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Carolyn Price, siblings Sam, Jim, John, Russell, Ralph, Elizabeth Magie, Mae Brown & Ruth Beaver. Family and friends are invited to gather from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, September 22nd at Camp Kennybrook, Monticello. Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc.
