Bertha (Bobbie) Bell Seargent died unexpectedly Thursday, September 14 at Catskill Regional Medical Center surrounded by family in a room filled with love.

Bobbie was born June 27, 1930 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Wesley and Philomena (Congro) Bell.  She had two sisters, Margaret (Bell) Delamarter, deceased and Pamela (Bell) Vandermark, and a brother Wesley Bell.

Bobbie graduated from Liberty High School.  She met her knight in shining armor on October 31, 1948 and married her Don on September 18, 1949.  Don Seargent predeceased her on February 8, 2016.  Bobbie is survived by her children, Judith (Fritz) Zwicker, Wayne (Irene) Seargent, and Donna (Lee) Stackhouse, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her sister, brother, many beloved nieces, and nephews, extended family members, many “adopted” children and grandchildren as well as many lifelong and new friends.

Bobbie was a longtime member of the First Church of Monticello, Presbyterian.  Bobbie loved to cook and bake for others and share her skills with the younger generations.  She loved gatherings at the church with the ladies.  She worked for over 30 years at Sullivan Internal Medicine.  She loved her furbabies Mazie and Bella with all her heart. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her ready friendship, her compassion and her love.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 19 from 1 – 3 pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.  Her funeral service will be held at 4pm on Tuesday at the First Church of Monticello, Presbyterian, 11 Jones St., Monticello, NY 12701.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested all memorial contributions be made to the First Church of Monticello, Presbyterian, 11 Jones St., Monticello, NY or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
