Obituary of Katie Fisher

Please share a memory of Katie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kaitlyn E. Fisher was born into this world on January 10, 1994 in Poughkeepsie, NY and entered into eternal life with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2017 in Lebanon, PA. Katie graced the life of her mother June M. Fisher and her sister, Jaclyn Fisher.

In her 23 years Katie accomplished so much. She was a 2012 honor graduate of Monticello High School, graduated from University of Vermont in 2016 Cum Laude and was pursuing a graduate degree in Public Health at George Washington University.

Katie loved to travel and did so as often as she could. Her adventures took her across the country to explore several national parks, on mission trips to improve the lives of children in Africa and Peru and to various states to spend time with her family members for holidays and special occasions.

Katie loved to stay active and made sure to take advantage of any opportunity that came her way. She was a scholar athlete, a member of the Varsity Track and Field Team, and captain of the Monticello Varsity Volleyball Team and Nordic Ski Team. She was an active member of her community. Katie was a lifelong member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro. She volunteered her time working with special needs students, she raised puppies for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and organized blood drives for the NYS Blood Center.

Katie thoroughly enjoyed and embraced life. Katie has left us all much too soon but she has left an amazing legacy in her 23 years that cannot easily be surpassed. She put her trust in everyone she met and knew no discriminatory boundaries, a testament to her innumerable friends. Her sunshine smile has been etched in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed enough to know her. Katie was truly a child of God.

Katie leaves a memory of her earthly ministry to lives she transformed: Her mother, June and her sister, Jackie; Uncle Chuck Fisher and Jo-Ann Lake, Uncle Thomas and Aunt Sandra Fisher, Uncle John and Aunt Wendy Hiers; Cousins Charles and Kia Fisher, Tamara Bradford, Shawn and Erin Morgenstern and Seth and Taylor Hiers. In heaven, Katie is welcomed by her grandparents, Wendall and Blanche Fisher and four great-grandparents.
