Frank Paes Sr. of Napanoch, a retired construction supervisor for Lane Construction, died Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. He was 97.

 

The son of the late Antonio M. Paes Sr. and Mary A. Medeiros Paes, he was born August 19, 1920 in Lisbon, Portugal. He was the widower of Mary Paes.

 

An avid New York Mets fan, Frank was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II; and was a member of the Ellenville Elk's Lodge #1971.

 

He is survived by his longtime loving companion: Frances Strickland of Napanoch; a brother: John Paes of Napanoch; a sister: Mary Carlile of Middletown; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son: Frank Paes, Jr.; a daughter: Rose Paes Goodrich; and a brother: Antonio Paes, all of Napanoch.

 

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 8 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9 at 2:00pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 180 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with Fr. Peter Madori officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Fantinekill Cemetery in Ellenville.
