Alice Joan Pammer (formerly Alice Joan Tierney) mother, grandmother, wife, businesswoman and adventurer, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was 89 years old. Alice was born on October 28, 1927. She is a 1946 graduate of Fallsburg High School and a graduate of Spencer Business School in Albany. Alice married Bill Pammer of Youngsville in 1954. She then left the phone company to raise her two sons, William and James. In 1968 she founded the A.B. Bike Company in South Fallsburg; a bicycle rental business that ran routes between South Fallsburg and Hurleyville paralleling the old O&W right-of-way. In 1971 she established the Harris Tax and Business Service, which she ran until 1982. Between 1983-1990 she was the tax collector for the Monticello Central School District. In that role she automated the collections with the advent of the personal computer. Alice's life message was simple: improve yourself. She inspired her boys, as well as many others, to go to college and become professionals. She believed that a person should not have regrets. Her passion for the outdoors lead to the co-founding of the Catskill Wheelmen and the Catskill Nordic Ski Club. In her prime, Alice was fond of golfing, fishing, camping and traveling. Alice was predeceased by her brother, Gary D. Tierney, and sister, Mary Agnes (Tierney) Degraw. She is survived by her husband, Bill Pammer, Sr,; her sons, William J. Pammer, Jr. & his wife Denise Frangipane, and James M. Pammer; sisters: Catherine Rogers and Patty Means; a brother: John Tierney; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes, cremation will take place in Milford, PA., and she will be interred at a later time with her husband, Bill, in the Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
