Obituary of Herman Armstead

Herman Armstead of Monticello, a kitchen supervisor for Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, and a lifelong resident of the area, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Northeast Center for Special Care in Lake Katrine. He was 49. The son of Pastor Mervin Armstead and the late Lola E. Strong Armstead, he was born December 11, 1963 in Monticello. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1984, and was then employed as a cook at the Miss Monticello Diner. He is survived by his wife: Marylou; a son: Kevin A. Armstead; a daughter: Whitney A. Armstead, all at home; his father: Bishop Mervin Armstead & his wife Lillian of Monticello; his brothers: Mervin Armstead Jr. (Lynn) of Monticello, Byron Armstead (Janet) of Hurleyville, Marcus Armstead of Monticello and Eric Armstead (Debra) of Richmond, VA; his sisters: Flora Armstead of Monticello, Pastor Chrissey Armstead of West Palm Bay, FL and Theresa Armstead (Greg) of Syracuse; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by two brothers: James and Wayne Armstead. His funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10 at 12:00 noon at the Bethlehem Temple Church, 93 Fairground Road in Monticello. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery in Monticello.
