Donald Joseph La Monica of Wurtsboro, a retired local carpenter, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 67 years old.
The son of the late Dominick La Monica and Connie Revelle, he was born May 27, 1949 in New York City.
Donald was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, the last surviving member of the 1st Battalion, 1st Marine, D Division, Unit 220. He was also awarded two bronze stars and a purple heart during his service.
Survivors include his wife: Roseann La Monica, at home; a daughter: Jaime; and a son: Donald Jr. ; and three grandchildren: Jayda, Ernest, and Kaylee.
Family & friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 1 from 10am to 12pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro with a funeral service beginning at 12pm noon at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty.
