Marie Houman August 23, 1926 – December 12, 2016 Monticello, NY Marie Houman of Monticello, a retired cashier for the Trading Post in Monticello, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Sullivan Co. Adult Care Center in Liberty. She was 90. The daughter of the late Leonard Rumsey and Esther Skinner Rumsey, she was born August 23, 1926 in Monticello. She was the widow of Nicholas Houman. Marie was a past president and chaplain for the Bailey Richman VFW Post Auxiliary. She is survived by two daughters: June (Ed) Brown and Sue (Pat) Curtis; a son: Carl (Susan) Houman; four grandchildren: Kelly (Brian) Soller, Heather Brown, Christopher Curtis (Katie), and Jennifer Houman (Derrick); and three great grandchildren: Aubrey, Aiyana & Gavin. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters: Della Mae Feller and Mary Skinner. A memorial service and interment of her ashes at the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery in Liberty will be held in the Spring. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at the Adult Care Center for making Marie as comfortable as possible during her last days.
