Ellen Laura Laufersweiler passed away at her home in Forestburgh on Sunday, February 19, 2017. She was 79. The daughter of the late Jack MacMurdo and Elsbeth Wheeler, she was born March 21, 1937 in Great Neck. Ellen, more affectionately known to many as Aunt El, Mrs. L, the Hostess with the Mostest and many more loving nicknames, but most of all "Mom" and "Nana". Ellen loved to share her recipes from her two Bed and Breakfast Inns that she and Buck ran in Hammondsport NY. She belonged to the New York State Bed and Breakfast Assoc. While operating the Inns, Ellen also loved to share stories with her guests and was known to never turn a customer away, if she had a full house, she would call all the other B and B's in town until she found another room. Survivors include her husband of 59 years: Franklyn "Bucky" Laufersweiler, at home; four sons: Franklyn "Bucky" Laufersweiler & his wife Karen, John "Shawn" Laufersweiler, James Laufersweiler, and Dennis Laufersweiler; a daughter: Dawn Feinman & her husband Mac; grandchildren: Tyler, Ian (Angie), Emma, Hannah and Alexis; a sister: Jacquie Quam & her husband Wayne of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother John "Jay" MacMurdo of Wurtsboro Hills. Family & friends are invited to gather on Thursday, February 23 from 11am to 1pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 at the funeral home with Fr. John Tran officiating.
