Helen Marie Calhoun of Monticello, a retired licensed practical nurse, died Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 85. The daughter of the late George Rupp and Marie Ruh Crawford, she was born May 25, 1929 in Monticello. She was the widow of Henry O. Calhoun who predeceased her on May 3, 1995. She is survived by her children: Catherine Travis & her husband John, Russell Calhoun & his wife Audrey and Patricia "Reesie" Bastone & her husband Mike, all of Monticello; her grandchildren: Kelly Levi & her husband Joe, Christopher Bastone & his wife Mary Beth, Brian Olmsted, Brad Bastone & his wife Cara, Brent Olmsted and Ashley Calhoun; several great grandchildren who lovingly called her "Grandma Dear"; nieces and nephews; and her two cats: JoJo and Sugar. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers: Joe, Frank and Alan. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, April 20 from 4-7pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Messenger Cemetery, Southwoods, Monticello. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Sullivan County SPCA, P.O. Box 995, Rock Hill, NY 12775.
