Obituary of Yvonne Lucy Ross

Yvonne Lucy Ross of Monticello, a retired employee for Sullivan ARC, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Achieve Rehab & Nursing Facility in Liberty. She was 84. Yvonne came to Brooklyn, NY in 1971 from Trinidad, West Indies and in 1972, she moved to Monticello, NY, where she lived until her death. Employed with Sullivan ARC for about 20 years until her retirement in 1999, she was known for her love of Calypso music, Motown music, western movies, wrestling and most of all, hosting gatherings to spend time with her family. The daughter of the late Matilda Young and Winford Legendre, she was born May 28, 1930 in Trinidad, West Indies. She was predeceased by her husband Andrew Ross and special friend Joseph Boyce. She is survived by her 8 children: Sandra(Trinidad); George(Monticello); Emrol (Trinidad); Earl (Florida); Wayne (Monticello); Daleanne and her husband Anthony Boxil Sr.(Brooklyn); Derrek (Florida); and Caryl (Brooklyn). One sibling, Cynthia Babb (Florida). She has a special daughter, Alberta (Monticello). She also leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins who all love her dearly. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 1 from 1-3pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
