Maryann Sciaratta Laterza, a homemaker ad longtime resident of the area, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at her home in Monticello after a two year battle with cancer. She was 62.
The daughter of the late Manze Sciaratta and Mary Orenzo Sciaratta, she was born November 29, 1951 in Brooklyn.
Maryann was a great cook and baker and a very great friend of many people. She had a heart of gold.
She is survived by her husband: Marco Laterza, at home; her twin sister: Carol Sciaratta of Monticello; and two nieces: Yvette and Rachel Cardona. She was predeceased by a sister: Connie; and a niece Anita.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 7-9pm and on Sunday Nov. 2 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:00am at St. Peters Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello. Burial will follow at the Rock Ridge Cemetery, Monticello.
